Kate is out of surgery and in the ICU!!!!
I just got a call from Susan who heard from Rich whose phone is ringing off hook.
Dr. Sugarbaker and team were able to take out pesky tumor plus lung and surrounding lymph nodes leaving CLEAN MARGINS all around and there were NO COMPLICATIONS!!!!
There may not be enough exclamation points to deal with how we're all feeling.
Kate is expected to be in ICU for approx 2 days. No flowers can be sent to her there and it is unknown if flowers will be allowed wherever she's relocated post-ICU. Once I hear I'll let folks know if someone else hasn't yet posted.
The Brigham does have a patient information line 617 732 5500 then press 3. A real human has answered both times I've called and it may help keep Rich's cell from exploding.

And, everybody, 1, 2, 3...exhale. Way to go Kate. Way to go docs, way to get that beast out of there.
