One day and still counting

I have so many emotions tugging at my shirtsleeves today. Apprehension. Elation at getting rid of the tumor and sadness at losing part of an organ that has served me well. Fear of the unknown. Anticipation. Desire for this day to end quickly. Incredible gratitude for all the amazing people in my life who have shown me the true meaning of love and support. Thanks to the friends and family who will be my band of angels watching over me in the operating room. Hope that Dr. Sugarbaker and his team will share their remarkable talents with me tomorrow. Those are just a few of the feelings I can articulate. It seems that there are many others bubbling around inside.

I know I am ready to be on the other side of this surgery and to begin the process of healing a cancer-free body.

Much love, Kate
