Food captain on the Cape or food coordinator here in 'burbs. My friend, Lucy, performed this job beautifully. If people wanted to make something they would run it by her. I had suggested that for the week around surgery time we might need meals every other night (for Ana and me) and then twice a week, or something, for the week or so post-surgery. Folks knew to email her - she had a list of food allergies and preferences - and she coordinated schedules. If we were experiencing food build-up I'd ask her to wiggle things around, but that didn't happen more than once 'cause I had asked to space things out a bit. Then folks would drop by with the food - yum, there were countless excellent cooks - and Ana would gobble and I would pick, until things settled down, then I started gobbling too. John didn't get his appetite back for quite awhile. I remember the surgeon said it would take about four to six weeks and then he'd be hungrier than he'd ever been.
So one question to consider is: how's Rich's appetite around stress times? Also, what's their freezer space like? Meals that can live in a freezer for awhile are best. Then pick a food captain that Rich can work with easily, someone who likes to plan and who communicates clearly.
Hugs,
