We saw the oncologist yesterday and he and the radiation oncologist have come up with a plan that seems to be manageable. They are going to give me the next 4 weeks to continue my healing/recovery process. Then starting on July 27 I will begin radiation and chemo concurrently.
The radiation will be 5 days a week for 5 weeks. I will have to go to Hyannis every day and will get a little blast of radiation daily.
Yesterday the oncologist said that best results happen when the radiation and chemo are done at the same time. So I will get a low dose of chemo once a week during the 5 weeks. And he thought the side affects would be less because the dosage will be less. All along he has promised two more rounds of chemo and basically at the end of the 5 weeks I will have received the equivalent of two rounds but they will just be smaller doses each week.
Sounds to me like August is going to be full of fun! But the good news is I will be finished by the end of the month.
We continue to be grateful to all for the delicious meals. I so appreciate not having to cook every night. With my energy so low, I just don't think I could do it.
I started PT in earnest today...oh yeah...feeling it! I'm sure it will get better soon.
Much love, Kate
